| I recently purchased a consult adapter w/ the free ConZult software. I had issues connecting to the computer running windows 7 and a USB to rs232 serial connection. After numerous attempts / connection errors / ecu diagnostics and checking fuses and everything. My battery was low. My consult would not connect/detect or perform any functions with the car in the on position only while the car was running. (the reason is the low voltage i assume) I tested the com ports with a serial mouse and verified that the USB to RS-232 was working properly so just a word to the wise in Z land that the consult is self powered and will not initialize unless you've got a strong battery. For those troubleshooting these issues also, in The Nissan Datascan i was able to detect the ports the ECU was on but no part number would show up. Mine battery was around 10V+/-. ConZult would not operate until i got 14V+/-.
